Catching up..

Catching up..

It’s been a while since I last posted here, and I have to admit I’m not the best at keeping up with blogging. My practice and projects tend to take over, and before I know it, months have flown by. That said, I thought it was about time I gave a little update, because even if I’ve been quiet here, it’s actually been a busy and exciting year of exhibitions.

The Royal Cambrian Open Exhibition 2025   11/01/2025 - 01/03/2025

My first exhibition of the year!  'When The Sun Rises Sometimes Its Hard to Believe There ever Was A Night' was chosen for the annual Open Exhibition at the prestigious Royal Cambrian Academy it was a real highlight for me, The Academy has such a long history of celebrating artists across Wales and beyond, and it was inspiring to see my work shown alongside so many talented practitioners.

'Breaking Silence' Elevator Studios, Liverpool.   4 - 11 April

Liverpool artist Fai McCabe curated the thought-provoking exhibition Breaking Silence, and I was truly honoured that she selected one of my pieces to be included -She’s a Sparrow When She’s Broken. Not only was it part of the show, but it was also chosen to feature on the exhibition poster, which was incredibly exciting. The piece was well received, and it was a privilege to be showcased alongside 25 talented artists.

The exhibition took place at Liverpool’s Elevator Studios  with the aim of raising funds for RASA Merseyside - a vital charity that supports individuals affected by sexual violence. Through powerful and deeply personal artistic expression, the exhibition created space for both emerging and established artists to raise awareness and spark important conversations.

HEADS @ Innside Melia Hotel, First St, Manchester.  July - November

Back in July, I was thrilled to be given the opportunity by Molly and Liam at HEADS Creative to exhibit two of my pieces as part of their incredible creative platform.

HEADS Art Gallery is an initiative in collaboration with INNSiDE by Meliá hotels in Manchester - a bold and unconventional space for artists to showcase their work and connect with new audiences. The exhibition is open 24 hours a day, located inside the INNSiDE by Meliá hotel, championing local artists and transforming hotel walls into a dynamic cultural experience.

The partnership also powers a year-long programme of creative events, from exhibitions and pop-ups to workshops and community gatherings - bringing together artists, creatives, and the public in fresh, accessible ways.

Being part of HEADS was more than just showing my work, it was about plugging into a movement that’s making art visible, accessible, and alive in unexpected places. Huge thanks to Molly and Liam for the opportunity, and for everything they’re doing to shake up the creative scene in the North.

Wirral Open Studio Tour   June 14th - 15th

June brings round my favourite event of the year.. The Wirral Open Studio Tour is a fantastic free event held every June, where local artists open their studio doors to the public. It offers a unique chance to step into creative spaces, see where the work is made, and have real conversations with the artists themselves. Whether you're curious about the artistic process, looking to discover new talent, or just enjoy exploring creative spaces, it’s a brilliant way to get a glimpse into what artists actually get up to all day!

I’ve had the pleasure of taking part in the tour for the past three years, and one of the highlights for me is always chatting with the visitors. It’s such a rewarding experience to share my work in the space where it’s made and to connect with people who are genuinely interested in the creative process.

'The Heart That Sheds The Brightest Light' The Hatch, New Brighton. 11 July - 30 Aug

In July I had the privilege of presenting my solo exhibition 'The Heart That Sheds the Brightest Light' at The Hatch Gallery in New Brighton, the exhibition brought together around 25 of my paintings created over the last three years, making it a real milestone in my practice. The Hatch is a fantastic new Gallery and work space in a former fruit and veg shop on Victoria Road, its a light filled and welcoming gallery space which offered an intimate and atmospheric space - a wonderful opportunity to share this deeply personal project with the local community.

The exhibition was a part of Liverpool Independents Biennial -  an artist-led contemporary art festival taking place across the Liverpool City Region the festival showcases over hundreds of artists and new works, emphasising grassroots and emerging talent .
